Britain slides out of top five of Germany’s largest trade partners as imports fall to €32.1bn in 2021

The costs of Brexit laid bare: Britain is no longer one of Germany's five largest trading partners, with UK imports down by 8.5% to just over 32 million euros. Simultaneously, the German data shows that imports from other trading partners rose.

 

Still, with the Minister for Brexit Opportunities of the view that we might have to wait 50 years to see the benefits, perhaps we shouldn't worry. Just laughable.

Customs rules take their toll as German companies swap UK suppliers for alternatives in the EU.

More good trade news: we're about to drop out of the top ten trading partners of Europe's largest economy, Germany, something that hasn't happened since 1950.

 

It gets better: not only have exports to Germany declined by 11% but imports from Germany have risen by nearly 3% in the first six months of the year. Quite some Brexit dividenc.
