A range of bills - from council tax to water - are going up, but the lowest earners also get a pay rise.

The continued effects of the cost of living crisis are made explicit again, as a number of bills are set to rise - with Council Tax, water and mobile phone bills rising. That said, the National Minimum Wage is also seeing its biggest rise in its 24 year history, going up by 92p per hour to £10.42.

 

However, for the poorest members of society, this is likely to provide little solace: the winter discount on energy is over.
