How To Sell Without Selling via @mfacchinetti (Infographic w/ Curagami Add Ons) | Must Market | Scoop.it

Marty Note
Love "Selling Without Selling" and experienced its power as a Director of Ecommerce when our Buzz Team picked up the baton and helped create trust and conversion from new shoppers to our site.

We liked this @massimo facchinetti Scoop so much we couldn't help but add a few ideas in. We added a section to why people buy to represent the emotional signals Stride's excellent work missed.

Team Curagami (http://www.curagami.com) also felt strongly that buying personas should be included so we added a pie with a "general" distribution (of site visitors) that may vary depending on business and business category.

Finding ways to help new, those learning about your site's content and experts find what they want, feel free to contribute and encourage  User Generated Content and community formation is where "buying personas" come in.

We don't stop with such simple personas as New, Learning and Expert for long. We like to tell a buyer's story dipping into psychographics, family, and UCA (Unique Customer Aspirations). Connecting buyers with LOVE and DREAMS are powerful emotional ideas under represented in this otherwise excellent infographic.

Coca-Cola's Bottle is Half Full [cool Infographic & forgotten SMM]

Coca-Cola's Bottle is Half Full [cool Infographic & forgotten SMM] | Must Market | Scoop.it
With rising unit volume sales in emerging markets, Coca-Cola’s third quarter earnings were in line with analysts’ estimates, despite the decline in net revenues as a result of currency fluctuations
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Loved this extensive analysis of some very positive Coca-Cola results. Well said here:

"Coca-Cola did not give any guidance for the next quarter, and said that its overall strategy to grow in emerging markets while embracing the shift to healthier beverages remains unchanged.

The company also mentioned that it has repurchased almost $2.8 billion worth of stock so far in 2013, and will buyback a further half a billion dollars’ worth of shares by the end of the year. Share repurchases in 2013 represent almost 2% of the company’s market cap."

###

Any company that buys its stock back, increases unit sales, has a well articulated and better-executed strategy is one to follow. What this analysis left out is how GREAT Coke is getting at Social Media.

Coca Cola's consistent social creativity is re-contextualizing an "old line" brand. Steve Jobs was dismissive of "sugar water" when he hired Scully away from Pepsi.

Social media provides ways to create new conversations about old brands. "New conversations" keep brands alive and relevant. In fact, of the two, Apple vs. Coca Cola, my social marketing innovation vote would go to sugared water ;)M.

Social Media Anxiety...Get Over It

Social Media Anxiety...Get Over It | Must Market | Scoop.it

Social Media Anxiety
Got to love social media. First social media has to prove it matters and isn't just a game then people worry about "doing it wrong". Yes there are "wrong" ways to create social media content...remember when we all started sharing exactly what was happening in the moment? Don't do that anymore.

Next we had the quote stage and now we seem to be getting the idea of how to surf social media. Some still have anxiety about jumping in or doing the wrong thing.

The half-life a tweet is hours. Remember you are in an ocean of content, so surf don't try to hold, compress or rule it. Here is another anti-anxiety pill for SMM. Look around, I've yet to follow or RT someone so brilliant I shouldn't be allowed in the same social space (lol). Yes they are out there, but I may never find them :).

Social media is the great level. What you can SEE and FEEL fast is we all have the same obsessions, fears, strengths, weaknesses, doubts and frustrations. Social shows our humanity in all its glory and aspirations.

Here is the other issue. If you are an Internet marketer, and who isn't these days, then social media anxiety can HURT. Don't let your "Sistine Chapel" perfectionism stop you from making social media mud pies. M

How to Measure Content Marketing Success | Infographic

How to Measure Content Marketing Success | Infographic | Must Market | Scoop.it

This infographic recommends three broad areas to evaluate when assessing content marketing success. With more than 90% of companies now doing some form of content marketing, the logical question is: how do you know if you’re doing it well?

In terms of “what” to measure, this infographic from Brandpoint recommends three broad areas to assess:

  • • Awareness (e.g., search engine rank for target keywords,  social metrics such as likes and followers);
  • • Consideration (longer average visit duration, social shares); and
  • • Conversion (increased conversion rate, growth in newsletter subscriptions).

In terms of “how” to measure success, CMOs utilizing a sophisticated web presence optimization framework for maximizing content marketing results will likely embrace tools for measuring competitive multi-channel marketing metrics—not just “are we making progress?” but also “how are we doing compared to our competitors?”

What You Need to Know About Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk [Infographic]

What You Need to Know About Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk [Infographic] | Must Market | Scoop.it

I'm all about Infographics these days, so I decided to break down my new book into some fun stats. Take a look!

Marty Note
Gary Vaynerchuk's latest book is excellent. Gary describes the Thank You Economy as a great "jab" book. He wanted to right a great "right hook" book too, a book about conversion and how to finish the social marketing fight we are all in.

He is aware, via his consulting work, that many view social media as a fad. He wishes them well as they fade off into obscurity (lol). I love his 3 characteristics of a great "right hook":

* Easy to understand (and present) Call-to-Action (CTA).
* Crafted agnostic and beautiful on any receiving device.

* Respects the nuances of the social network for which you make the content.

That last bullet should be the eye opening moment for many Internet marketers. Marketers who have one-sided conversations that don't respect the subtle and not so subtle nuance of platforms they use to communicate their stories will be treated like the spammers they are.

It is not enough, Vaynerchuk explains, to have awesome content. Content must be massaged to the medium. Where once the medium was the message now the medium influences the shape, form, tone and syntax of our stories. To be heard your marketing must speak the right language at the right time.

Will be writing a more extensive review, but BRAVO and KUDOS to Gary for creating writing another groundbreaking book a true "right hook".

Agree
* More content marketing.

* More content curation.

* Multi-screen.
* New SEO with Hummingbird leading to semantic web. .

Disagree
* Quality goes up.

I disgree with the last bullet since we don't have the tools yet to insure quality of content marketing and curation improves. Next year we will continue to muddle through. By the end of the year we may have better tools, tools capable of connecting top and botton of the funnel.
