20 More Top Educational iPad Apps Teachers Can Actually Use By a Teacher Who Actually Uses Them

20 More Top Educational iPad Apps Teachers Can Actually Use By a Teacher Who Actually Uses Them | mlearn | Scoop.it

“ It's been about three years since I posted my original list of iPad apps teachers can actually use. Since then I have compiled a few other app lists: Chess Apps to Improve Your Game and Your Mind Creativity Apps Critical Thinking Apps Earth Science and Geography Apps But I do think it's time I update my original post. Or at least added to it. Most of the apps and tools on the original list are still around, but there are a whole lot more that are useful.”

5 Critical Mistakes Schools Make With iPads (And How To Correct Them) | Reality

5 Critical Mistakes Schools Make With iPads (And How To Correct Them) | Reality | mlearn | Scoop.it

Focusing on iPad-versus.-laptop comparisons stifles the ability to see how the iPad facilitates student-centered learning. iPads are devices meant to compliment computers, not replace them.

So, people who seek equivalent functionality become frustrated, and fail to realize the intrinsic benefits and features of the iPad’s native design.

Instead, schools should focus their energies on what iPads do best to engender active learning. iPads enable students to kinesthetically connect with their work (especially important for young learners). These tactile elements – using fingers to zoom, rotate in, pinch close, or swipe across – as well as increasingly interactive and immersive apps, facilitate hands-on learning.

Just think, these students don't realize that iPads are not something to be used alone. I've seen many people with their tablets/pads and a laptop complimenting/corroborating with each other.

Some good items to purchase. I have to get some of the iPad microphones. Also uf you buy the USB Dock for your camera, you can use this to transfer photos and videos from one iPad to another directly. When you use the iPad charging cable to connect to the USB Dock it tricks the iPad into thinking the docked iPad is a camera. If you are using Explain Everything or video recording on teachers iPad to make lessons you can quickly transfer the training to other iPads in this manner.

11 Mind Mapping Apps for the iPad

11 Mind Mapping Apps for the iPad | mlearn | Scoop.it

Mind mapping is a method that works for quite a lot of people. Brain storming, idea mapping, thought generation, think tanks – call it what you will. Traditionally done on large pieces of paper, why not use your iPad to create mind maps? You could use these for your own purposes, or “convert” those large flip charts into a smaller, digital version.
