The main goal of a flipped classroom is to enhance student learning and achievement by reversing the traditional model of a classroom, focusing class time on student understanding rather than on lecture. To accomplish this, teachers post short video lectures online for students to view at home prior to the next class session. This allows class time to be devoted to expanding on and mastering the material through collaborative learning exercises, projects, and discussions. Via Nik Peachey

This entry in the "3 Minute Teaching With Tech Tip" video series shows how easy it is to 'flip' any YouTube video with the structured tool set provided at ed.ted.com. These lessons can be public or private, and the easy to use tools let teachers add associated content, a brief quiz, and online discussions associate with the video that is the focus point of the lesson. When you think about flipping a lesson or a class, you must, on some level, embrace the messiness of a dynamic learning environment. But that does not mean you lose control or let chaos rule your classroom. In fact, because there are so many variables in the flipped classroom, you need to be even more organized, and put systems in place to help you and your students focus on the learning.

No todo es ventajoso en el flipped classroom, pues al ser resignificado por el uso de la tecnología, este puede generar una inequidad entre los estudiantes que tienen o nó acceso a ella. Por otro lado, representa mucho más trabajo para el docente. Sin embargo, los aspectos positivos de aplicar el flipped classroom son mucho mayores que sus inconvenientes.
