Moodle.org: Moodle 3.4 is released! by Martin Dougiamas | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Hello everyone! I’m back again to place a little cherry on top of the hard work done by hundreds of people to produce another Moodle release: version 3.4!

We set out to focus on fixing known usability issues and bugs in this release, rather than adding too many new features.

As a result you’ll see our headline features in this release are improvements to some of the most-used parts of Moodle, such as:

- A modernised calendar interface with drag and drop etc Improved participants page, merged with enrolments
- Better navigation in Boost themes
- Control over file types in assignments and workshops
- Our new Inspire analytics system is now integrated in core, ready for the community to really help us take it forward
- Many many smaller improvements all over the interface

Catch Up With Moodle 3.3 Ahead Of The Major, Feature-Light 3.4 Update

Catch Up With Moodle 3.3 Ahead Of The Major, Feature-Light 3.4 Update | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Considering the announcement made recently by Moodle Founder Martin Dougiamas signaling a development introspection of sorts, no new features will come in Moodle 3.4, and we might have to wait until 3.6 for brand new functionality. Rather, the coming year will focus on getting the existing parts working as they should, all of them already available in Moodle 3.3.

At the four-minute mark, Jeremy Schweitzer describes Moodle to the newcomers, touching on the “modularity” to which it owes its name, and important attributes including the open source nature of the project and the importance of a global community for its ongoing development.
