Who owns our stuff? The answer used to be obvious. Now, with electronics integrated into just about everything we buy, the answer has changed. The issue goes beyond cellphone unlocking, because once we buy an object -- any object -- we should own it.
This kind of thing makes me a little bit angry and a little bit sad. And a lot cynical! I have the deep feeling that in many ways our lives aren't entirely our own anymore. I love technology and the things I can do with it. But at the same time I have a building sense of dread inside me.
