A musical adaptation of “Doctor Zhivago” is expected to begin performances at the Broadway Theater in the spring of 2015, with another new musical, “King Kong,” in discussions to move into that theater after the “Zhivago” run ends, according to three theater executives familiar with the plans. The Broadway, a prime house for musicals, is coming open with Wednesday’s announcement that “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” will close on Jan. 3.
