The Lyceum’s 2014 season continues with Monty Python’s SPAMALOT which runs July 9 through July 19. A new musical “lovingly ripped off” from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT follows King Arthur and his hysterically inept Knights of the Round Table as they quest about the medieval countryside in search of the Holy Grail. On their journey, they encounter cows, killer rabbits, showgirls galore, and French people. An irreverent parody of Arthurian Legend featuring all the treasured moments from the film, SPAMALOT is a Tony Award-winning musical that will have audiences laughing from beginning to end.

Monty Python’s SPAMALOT has played to sold out crowds at the Playhouse theatre and the role of SIR NOT APPEARING has been honoured to stars including Leigh Francis, Matt Johnson, Heather Small, Johnny Vaughan, Larry Lamb and many more names and so it was a pleasure to be asked to guest star for one night in the West end!

Anarchic TV comedy double act Dick and Dom are joining the cast of the Playhouse Theatre's hit show Spamalot. The tittersome twosome, whose mothers know them better as Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood, will clip-clop into the Python musical for six weeks from next Monday, 2 December, as King Arthur and Patsy respectively.

Spamalot is a terrific musical, a hilarious romp through English myth and history — and a fine Aurora Fox production underlines its strengths. The fabled King Arthur sets forth accompanied by his faithful squire, Patsy, who serves as an overworked and underappreciated beast of burden. After a while, God himself appears — usually in the form of a huge foot descending from the heavens, but in this production as a talking wooden head — to instruct Arthur and his knights to take up the quest for the Holy Grail. There's a bit of arguing while the knights try to puzzle out what this grail actually is. "God the all-knowing almighty has misplaced a cup?" asks an incredulous knight.

Lovingly ripped off from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot follows King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in their quest to find the Holy Grail. Spamalot originally ran in the West End at the Palace Theatre between 2006 and 2009. Following a UK Tour a new production of the musical opened at the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre in July 2012 before transferring to the Playhouse Theatre from November 2012.
