Producers announced Sept. 11 that the Off-Broadway revival of the drag musical comedy Pageant, written by Tony nominee Bill Russell, Frank Kelly and Albert Evans, will receive its first-ever cast recording.

The 34-year-old actor dons sequined gowns and stiletto heels as one of the six stars of Off-Broadway’s “Pageant: The Musical,” which is billed as “Miss America meets ‘The Birdcage.’” Although it's his first proper experience in drag, Thomas says the part of Miss Deep South is a perfect fit, as his inspiration during his early years in theater was his older sister, Amy -- herself a competitive beauty queen in the ‘80s.

After a sold-out benefit run for BC/EFA this February, PAGEANT - THE MUSICAL returns in a limited Off-Broadway engagement at The Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street). Previews began Sunday, June 29, 2014, and the show will officially open tonight, July 14, 2014. The cast of tiara-crazed beauties includes Nick Cearley ("The Skivvies"),Nic Cory (Signs of Life), Alex Ringler (West Side Story), Marty Thomas (Wicked, Xanadu), Seth Tucker (Our Kiki), and Curtis Wiley (Motown), with John Bolton (A Christmas Story, "Gossip Girl") as the host.

John Bolton, a Drama Desk Award nominee for A Christmas Story, has joined the Off-Broadway production of Pageant, replacing Emmy Award winner Kevin Meaney as host of the drag competition musical.
