Mobile MAU 699 million, added 33 million in 3 months; 3. 636 million annual active users; 4. Revenues grew 40% to $15 billion; 5. Cloud now bringing in $1 billion; and finally successfully bringing users from rural areas to use Alibaba! Considering the macro-economic climate, political upheaval, and larger base of GMV, revenues .. growth rates are impressive!Â

Singles Day festivity grabbed $14.32 billion in a single day in China for Alibaba overshadowing the US Cyber Monday of $2.68 billion (2014). Growth in mobile commerce across China is driving growth for networks including MasterCard, limited by ability to acquire cross-border transactions, too. Opening up the monopoly from CUP to other networks will lead to a competition and benefit merchants / consumers in big way!

Interesting to see both Alibaba and Tencent with investments in Snapchat with both companies having chat capabilities in China and also AliPay and TenPay for mobile payments! For Snapchat this will likely be a foray to move to China market, likely get integrated with WeChat and Laiwang or have China payment capabilities included in Snapchat.
