KUTV To some he's a patriot---to the Obama Administration he's a criminal.Either way, NSA leaker Edward Snowden will speak to a Utah audience at the Park City Eccles Center. He will be on the big screen, just as you would see a Sundance film here, ...
Cara Beld's curator insight, September 22, 2015 9:39 PM

Personally I think Snowden's more of a traitor than a criminal, considering he put his personal beliefs ahead of the common good of the U.S. I can't believe that a documentary's being made about him, I guess you really can make a documentary on anything these days.

Trade Secrets: We Must Act To Protect Whistleblowers! | La Quadrature du Net

Trade Secrets: We Must Act To Protect Whistleblowers! | La Quadrature du Net | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Paris, 3 March 2015 — In late April 2015, the “trade secrets” directive will be discussed in the European Parliament. Having already given in to the pressure of journalists to remove the article on trade secrets in the French Macron Bill, La Quadrature du Net, Pila and a number of other organisations now call on president François Hollande and European representatives to defend whistleblowers, to define and protect their status and to ensure the necessary means are provided for judiciary follow-up on the crimes and offences that are revealed. The situation of whistleblowers, such as Edward Snowden or Chelsea Manning, is often dramatic and they must be protected and their safety guaranteed in order to safeguard fundamental freedoms.

Apple vs. the FBI: Inside the Battle Snowden Calls "The Most Important Tech Case in a Decade"

Apple vs. the FBI: Inside the Battle Snowden Calls "The Most Important Tech Case in a Decade" | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
A major debate over privacy and online encryption has erupted after the computer giant Apple announced it will resist a court order to help the FBI break into an iPhone recovered from one of the San Bernardino shooters. Citing an 18th century law, federal prosecutors requested a court order to compel Apple to assist the investigation in unlocking the phone of Syed Rizwan Farook. In December, Farook and his wife killed 14 and injured 22 others in San Bernardino. On Tuesday night, Apple CEO Tim Cook published an open letter to customers announcing his company’s decision to fight the court order. "Up to this point, we have done everything that is both within our power and within the law to help them," Cook said. "But now the U.S. government has asked us for something we simply do not have, and something we consider too dangerous to create. They have asked us to build a backdoor to the iPhone." We speak to Alex Abdo, staff attorney at the National Security Project at the American Civil Liberties Union.

Lucky this was found sooner rather than later.

Zhang ZheWei's curator insight, March 1, 2015 3:18 AM

I think that British spy agency trying to steal cryptographic keys is a horrible thing to do as it invaded over billions of people's privacy. Although the intention of the deed might be good as they are trying to create safer environment for the people but it is a wrong thing to do, they are stealing it. Since they are stealing it they will not have much responsible if  the cryptographic keys are made known to the criminals. If that happened it will affect the whole world and disturb our regular life, bringing fear and chaos.
