“According to Alderperson Freek Ossel this form of rental is an “additional form of accommodation that dovetails with a hospitable Amsterdam.” However, to maintain its ‘occasional character’ persons renting out their property are allowed to do this for a maximum of four persons at a time and for a maximum of two months per year in total. Renting out a property longer than two months will be viewed by the supervisory agency as an indication of possible commercial activity. Tourist taxes will become obliged. Further regulations are negotiated to deal with nuisance and unsafe situations.
