Olympic rowing was one of the first sports introduced to the Olympic Games in 1896. London 2012 has so far generated a magnificent display of medals for the GB rowing Team. But how did rowing evolve from a means of transport and warefare to become a sport and what exactly is it doing in the Olympics?

"It's another great day for Britain with gold in the rowing..." 6 medals for Team GB to date in the rowing, putting us on par with our Beijing 2008 Olympics rowing success and the possibility of winning a further 3 finals this Saturday. Rowing is one of Britain’s most successful Olympic sports. GB Rowing Team has won 24 gold, 20 silver and 10 bronze medals in the history of the Olympic Games up to 2008 and is the only GB sport to have won gold at every Games since 1984.
