"Ben Ainslie has been chosen to carry the flag for the British team at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games."

So many worthy British Olympians after London2012 but Ben is a worthy choice. He's Britain's greatest ever sailor and this looks to be his last Olympics. Not only that... he's Cornish ;-)

Blown Away! Greatest Day Of Sport For Britain

Blown Away! Greatest Day Of Sport For Britain | Results London 2012 Olympics | Scoop.it
Euphoric Britain glories in winning six Olympic gold medals in a day – and there are hopes for even more victories today.

All Olympic sports from now on should require either a bike or a boat.

Sure, OK, a couple of exceptions to the rule to make it fair play:

the long jump, heptathlon and men's 10,000m for example.

And a race including each of the above sports.

Team GB top of medal table hands down!

Olympics: 6 rowing medals for Team GB

Olympics: 6 rowing medals for Team GB | Results London 2012 Olympics | Scoop.it

"It's another great day for Britain with gold in the rowing..."

6 medals for Team GB to date in the rowing, putting us on par with our Beijing 2008 Olympics rowing success and the possibility of winning a further 3 finals this Saturday.

Rowing is one of Britain’s most successful Olympic sports. GB Rowing Team has won 24 gold, 20 silver and 10 bronze medals in the history of the Olympic Games up to 2008 and is the only GB sport to have won gold at every Games since 1984.

A Medal For Jamieson In 200m Breaststroke

A Medal For Jamieson In 200m Breaststroke | Results London 2012 Olympics | Scoop.it

"Britain won silver in the 200m breaststroke final on Wednesday night, completing a stellar fifth day for the Great Britain team."

Oh yeaaaah, Michael Jamieson made my day yesterday, finishing off what was an awesome day for TeamGB at last.

The best bit, we honestly didn't have him down for such a performance. None of the usual build up which so far seems to doom most of our athletes to imminent failure.

Its his first Olympics and I didn't know that much about him?

But I'll remember him now, especially for the quote " would have made gold if the pool has been a bit longer"

Britain: We can top record medals tally at Rio

Britain: We can top record medals tally at Rio | Results London 2012 Olympics | Scoop.it

"Britain is confident of bettering its record-breaking success at the London Olympics following a commitment by its government to maintain funding levels through Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016"

We've barely packed away the party poppers and we're probably still nursing a hangover, but the news stops for no man nor woman; Britain will not only be doing that all over again in Rio 2016, but next time even better...

Brilliant results from these talented young women winning gold at the velodrome yesterday, breaking a world record, and Olympic record. Only thing missing would have been to lap the Americans, that would have been the cherry on the cake !

Alopecia, athsma, glandulor fever, these girls have each faced personal challenges. Winning gold at the Olympics made our hearts melt, their stories making their success seem all that more deserved.

Wiggins wins historic gold medal

Wiggins wins historic gold medal | Results London 2012 Olympics | Scoop.it
Cyclist Bradley Wiggins becomes Britain's most decorated Olympian with victory in the London 2012 time trial, with Chris Froome taking bronze.

King of the road, King of the Mods, or with those side burns "The King" aka Elvis Presley spings to mind.

Who cares, he gets away with his quirky look a) because of his awesome taste in music and b) because he was the first Brit to win the Tour de France EVER and he just won GB its second olympic medal in London 2012.

"Chapeau" to Wiggins, as the French would say

London 2012: 'We surprised France by how strong and how good we are'

Bobby White: In the opening period against France Team GB played the best handball of their careers...

Team GB show some flair on the pitch, even if it was not to last.

Well, its true that in the end we took quite a beating from the French side, who, after their shame at their failure to qualify in the Euro championships just recently, needed to prove to both their followers and themselves that they are capable of winning the Olympics.

But that taken into account, we held our own for a first Olympic appearance.
