Research by Stanford Graduate School of Business professor Larissa Tiedens Suggests That women can exert controlling by Engaging in more subtle or "implicit" methods of dominance.
A shift in facial expression, an expansive posture, or a different negotiating strategy can be just as effective as a direct command, a wagging finger, or other aggressive behavior, she says. When women use These methods, the backlash is Weakened or even Disappears, ACCORDING to the research by Tiedens and Melissa Williams of Emory University's Goizueta Business School.
Based on a review of Hundreds of Earlier studies, Their Work Suggests a winning strategy for women in business: "While the obstacles to women's achievement in leadership roles are real, there Also is reason to hope That women May Be able to work around them by Relying more heavily on implicit methods of interpersonal influence, "write the Researchers.
Attitudes and preconceptions about gender roles are deeply rooted, so it’s not surprising that dominant women face difficulties in business.ur insight ...
How can women be strong leaders at work without being labeled as “bossy” or viewed as less likeable than their male peers?
This video, which spread like wildfire across social media last week, was just the latest example of the way organizations continuously downplay the impact of domestic violence and rape culture. In turn, this betrays how little we as a society care for, or even think of, victims of interpersonal violence.

The many stereotypes of black women are used to justify violence and aggression against them. Because black women are mythologized as gold-digging, angry, physically strong, provocative shrews some black men assume (and this is something that having a mama, a auntie, a grandmother who raised you, or your own damn daughters doesn’t change) that if/when black women are hit, they asked for (or deserved) it. At the end of the day many men empathize with other men and instead of vilifying any act of violence, physical or otherwise, against anyone, especially a woman, they attempt to justify it. They put themselves in the shoes of the aggressor, but not the victim, and see themselves as blameless and reactionary, rather than violent and misogynistic.

Glenn Beck's black box theater of the puerile moron is back with another "controversial" and "edgy" performance, only this time, it's not Beck playing with dolls or complaining about Obama through film noir. Here, Beck dispatches The Blaze's Stu Burguiere to mock sexual assault statistics. Safe to say, it's absolutely vile.

Humor is a big joke on us all. It’s one huge paradox. While it seems unconditionally benevolent, stimulating laughter and good feeling, it is often cruel, destructive, and manipulative.
So says Betty Swords. And she should know. For over twenty-five years, starting in 1955, she was a professional humorist. She sold her cartoons to the major magazine markets, including Saturday Evening Post, Redbook, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, Changing Times. She also produced a considerable quantity of humorous writing for such publications as McCall’s, Modern Maturity, Christian Science Monitor, and others. And beginning in 1976, Swords taught college courses in the power of humor and lectured widely on the subject.
...And then I realized that the punching bag was always a woman. “Marriage is seen as bad,” she went on, recollecting the experience as we talked on the patio in back of her Denver home in June 1995. And she cited examples of one-liners to prove her point:
Married life is great—it’s my wife I can’t stand.
He was unlucky in both his marriages—his first wife left him. And his second one won’t.
A bachelor’s last words—I do.
“Marriage is seen as horrible because it meant that the man had lost his freedom,” she continued.
One article you have to read as a great piece of feminism movement.

"Journalism is changing, and so is the role of women in the workplace. But the two are not always evolving in harmony. Women substantially outnumber men in journalism training and enter the profession in (slightly) greater numbers, but still only a relative few rise to senior jobs. The pay gap between male and female journalists remains stubbornly wide, and older women - especially if they have taken a career break - find it difficult to retain a place in the industry.
Women in journalism still cluster around particular subject genres. Historically, they were almost totally confined to “pink ghettos”, but as more women entered the industry, there was an expectation that their opportunities would expand and that they would duly embrace areas that had been traditionally male, like hard news, crime or politics.
But a byline analysis of UK national newspapers in 2012 indicates that some areas still have very few women, in particular politics, sport and opinion writing. These findings are also supported by qualitative interview data. There are similar lacunae in the US press."
The digital print skew the picture, given the lower pay to digital writers.
Why are some 'beats' still inhospitable to women? Clearly it is not the topics, women js are equally interested in politics, so maybe it is the practice of journalism in these arenas? Locker room based sourcing in sports? Boys drinking networks in politics? Byline analysis is the starting point, we need to figire out the 'why' also?
