NEW YORK -- Level 3 Communications Inc. said Tuesday it completed its acquisition of Global Crossing Ltd. in a stock swap valued at about $2 billion. Both companies operate long-distance telecommunications networks.

Level 3 agreed to acquire Global Crossing ( GLBC - news - people ) in April. It said the combined company will have more than $6 billion in annual revenue, and it will keep the Level 3 name and its "LVLT" ticker symbol. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
