Susan Bainbridge - author: I Love...Therefore I Am..... | Susan Bainbridge - ePortfolio | Scoop.it

I'm struggling with my own humanity these days.
A few weeks ago I was sitting with a couple of friends, and I said something appropriately outrageous to stimulate the conversation, and one of the group groaned and said, "Ah, Susan's mind. It's a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there!" That's the way I'm feeling at the moment. Unfortunately I do live here so I need to come to terms with my thoughts.

Today, I thought we'd take a commercial break. There are so many interesting comments on the previous blogs, that I need some time to think about all the new ideas and respond thoughtfully to all your posts.

Think about it . . .: Transformational Leadership: Here's to the Crazy ... | Susan Bainbridge - ePortfolio | Scoop.it

Transformational leaders have a vision. They are driven to ‘transform’ based on their vision. They can be very successful in situations that require change because they: set direction, set an example, communicate well, alignment goals, bring out the best in people, are change agents and provide decision in a crisis or on the ambiguous (Hooper & Potter, 1997). More importantly they BELIEVE. Their nature, personality, DNA gives them the attributes that allow them to believe in their visions, with no hesitation or doubts.

AUSpace: An Integrated Approach: Techniques for Teaching Pronunciation Skills and Communicating in the ESL Classroom | Susan Bainbridge - ePortfolio | Scoop.it

Our intention in contributing to this book chapter is to bring together some aspects of research and best practice in Oral Communication teaching in both the Arts and the Sciences and in so doing, apply a problem-solving approach to the teaching of successful Oral Communication to Second Language learners. We define successful Oral Communication as the process of giving and uveiving a clear message. This process both weaves and is woven from our acculturated concepts of reality and involves not only all aspects of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary, but also intention, and verbal and non-verbal language.

Susan Bainbridge - author: If not now . . . when? | Susan Bainbridge - ePortfolio | Scoop.it

My daughter will be a writer someday. She doesn't know it just yet, but as the years progress she'll find her voice. Why? Because she took a pretty typical, everyday incident and turned it into something special. She stopped. She grabbed that second in time. She saw the potential message she could create. She seized the moment...Carpe Diem.

I'm thrilled! I have a hedgehog in my garden. I'm not sure when she moved in but she came to visit me the other evening as I sat on my terrace. Since then, like clockwork, she has been busy trotting around the garden each evening.

Perhaps we should change our paradigms concerning Corporate Social Responsibility programs and expect corporations to use their efficient systems to deliver progress and improvement in countries of needs rather than have them simply donate to inefficient government programs and bureaucratic NGOs.

Successful teachers of English as a Foreign Language understand the power of their 'classroom talk'. They recognize and understand the prejudices that they bring into the classroom and use accommodative processes that will enhance student rapport, attentiveness and ultimately learning. Successful teachers balance linguistic convergence and divergence techniques to accommodate for the differences between individuals in the classroom.
