ACMI: Education is the primary source that I had used to develop my mini-unit plan. This resource, in particular, influenced how I constructed my mini-unit plan around English and the Media. This source gave insight into how I could redefine English studies, making it more relevant and engaging to students of the 21st century. From this resource, I was also able to understand how English studies could reach the redefinition level of the SAMR model, which, in turn, generated various ideas.

Inclusive education CYDA as the co-chair of the Australian Coalition for Inclusive Education (ACIE) wrote to the Disability Royal Commission to raise with our collective concerns about the discrimination and neglect currently facing children and young people with disability during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the risk of increased violence and abuse. CYDA is convening weekly COVID-19 meetings with the ACIE and other disability advocates working with children and young people with disability and their families around Australia. ACIE has also developed a resource Learning at home during a time of crisis: COVID19 (Coronavirus). This resource has been developed to help parents support their children while schools are pupil free or closed in these uncertain times. This resource is to assist children and young people with disability and families to organise and plan for learning at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

STEM and policy aspects of COVID-19 made simple


To help us make sense of the crisis, learn-tech.io called on experts from around the world to help demystify COVID-19 in a short, practical course. COVID-19 Demystified has been developed for three key audiences. Firstly, the more than 1bn young people now shut out of classrooms who still seek education. Secondly, the wider public who are ‘drinking from a firehose’ of ‘news’. Information that frequently includes much disinformation and fake news. Thirdly, those decision makers and policy makers seeking to understand more about the challenges they face. Each of these audiences really needs opportunities to learn more about the pandemic both to protect their own lives and the lives of others. The scientific and mathematical complexity behind fighting COVID-19 means that many people lack tools to understand fully the impact of their own actions. Without such tools, misinformation and ignorance spread easily and can amplify negative effects of the pandemic. Those with no understanding of the science of the pandemic have sought to destroy 5G infrastructure, or adopt false cures bringing risk and harm to themselves. Some have adopted blame and hatred rather than nurtured their own understanding. The Demystification team hopes that this course will aid understanding and ultimately it will aid the fight against COVID-19. We all hope COVID 19 Demystified could be a key weapon in our fight against the pandemic and its effects.

"It is intended that COVID-19 Demystified aids our fight against the virus. It offers practical ways to gain analytical skills and knowledge enabling more people to make their own sense of the pandemic. With a set of data and models that a user can examine and investigate, each of us can model strategies for mitigation, understand better why different strategies are being followed and come to their own conclusions regarding the wisdom of different government strategies."

YouTube is increasingly becoming an extremely important resource for teachers and students alike. It is disappointing however some schools disallow students access though the schools network when it can allow students so much learning content right at their fingertips. Especially for high level mathematics concepts, having something explained by someone else may resonate more with different students. I myself have picked up different things from different videos when working on mathematics problems.

Wow what a great resource, for so many different reasons. Having something like this in high school could've saved me a lot of money instead of paying tutors for help. If schools put more thought into implementing YouTube into pedagogy I think it would be very beneficial to students. The learning of students could be further continued and reinforced by watching these in a classroom setting then practicing the work, while the teacher can help the students who need it most, instead of being spread out thin over 30 odd students. The fact that this is free and is easily accessible is a godsend. Maths teachers should consider creating videos of their work for the class to re-watch. This would be especially helpful with preparing for exams and would take some stress of teachers trying to reply to emails and such.

Theory of Music online courses now FREE

As a part of efforts to support music education through the COVID-19 outbreak, we're providing FREE online Theory of Music courses. View all the other support on offer here. AMEB's Online Theory courses allow students to learn music theory at their own pace, independently or supporting what is taught in the classroom or private music studio.

Our online courses for Grades 1 to 3 Theory of Music are now free until June 30 from exams.ameb.edu.au. AMEB has made their Theory Courses free for the time being while we all adapt to learning from home and we hope that teachers, parents and students find this a useful resource.

AMEB is a self-funding organisation that relies on exam fees and book sales to fund the activities that we undertake. For that reason, it is not possible to make exams free.

Currently, it includes kinematics, mechanics, special relativity, waves, sound, electricity and magnetism. Resources may be freely used by teachers, while students may use the whole package, including interactive tutorials and support pages, for self instruction or for reference

This is a high quality resource from the Dept of Physics at UNSW.   All manner of physics concepts and principles are demonstrated through animated examples with informed narration and explanations.   The package includes tutorials and other supports for independent learners.

It builds on the pedagogies and techniques of educational drama and applied theatre to make web-based learning experiences that can reach potentially large numbers of participants. In 2019 Prospero was named ‘Global Education Innovation’ by the Helsinki educational think tank HundrED.

Prospero enables anyone to create and distribute their own interactive resources, learning materials and online stories.

These resources have been created for the online learning world. You may know some of the selected plays and some may be new. It’s always great to make discoveries. Whichever is the case, Australian Plays recommends that teachers access and read a script before selecting it for their students. Each script and the accompanying activities are designed as a mini unit of work or series of lessons for students to do solo, in pairs and in collaboration and take place over several days or more..
