YouTube hosts a treasure trove of excellent educational content that speaks to the learning needs of a wide variety of audiences. Some of this content is created by dedicated teachers and educators who took it upon themselves to promote learning beyond the traditional walls of their classrooms. For instance, in the area of English language learning, there are numerous language teachers (including EFL and ESL) who have set their own YouTube channels and provide video lessons covering almost everything related to language learning. Today's post highlights some of these channels. The purpose is to provide language teachers with relevant video resources that they can use in their instruction in class. Check out the list below and share with us your feedback in our Facebook page.

Warmers and fillers for the online classroom - EnglishUp

Warmers and fillers for the online classroom - EnglishUp | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it

The online classroom can at times seem like a very cold space and building a supportive and friendly environment for students while getting a clear idea of their capabilities can be quite challenging. A personal philosophy of principled eclecticism for language teaching

A personal philosophy of principled eclecticism for language teaching | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it

Shona Whyte:

Scott Douglas, assistant professor at the University of British Columbia, teaches English as an Additional Language (EAL), particularly EAP (English for Academic Purposes).

He's taken the time to write up a personal philosophy of education, detailing how and why he teaches the way he does.  He covers constructivism, Freire and Krashen, as well as critical thinking.

An interesting read, and a useful exercise for individual professional development as well as for teacher training classes.
