The Next User You Design For Won’t Be A Human

The Next User You Design For Won’t Be A Human | Thinking about Systems | Scoop.it

As software continues to invade our lives in surreptitious ways, the social and ethical implications are increasingly significant. Our work is heavy and it’s getting heavier all the time. I think a lot of designers haven’t deeply considered this, and they don’t appreciate the real-life effects of the work they’re doing.

Scale-linking Design for Systemic Health: sustainable communities and cities in context

Scale-linking Design for Systemic Health: sustainable communities and cities in context | Thinking about Systems | Scoop.it

Clearly, the design of sustainable communities and sustainable cities will be the outwardly mate- rial expression of this civilizational transformation, while the psychological (spiritual) metadesign changes in worldview, value systems, meaning making, and intentionality will ultimately result in a widespread change towards more sustainable lifestyles. The creation of sustainable communities and cities has to take place within the immaterial realms of human consciousness, awareness, psychology, ethics, spirituality, and culture, as well as within the scale-linked complexity of material culture and nature.

Design Thinking is the latest exotic heuristic to show up in fishmongers' stalls. The old saying, "give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime" comes to mind.

Organizing Visual Recording with Metamaps — A Journey to Problem-Solving

Organizing Visual Recording with Metamaps - A Journey to Problem-Solving - Medium
We use DSRP and Metamaps in all courses. Florida Virtual School (FLVS) courses are organized into modules and lessons. Metamaps use four patterns (Distinctions, Systems, Relationships, and Perspectives) to organize ideas. By creating Metamaps, we are able to see how each lesson builds on information from previous lessons and modules.
