The Story of Storyblocks, A Letter From Our Founder - Storyblocks Blog

The Story of Storyblocks, A Letter From Our Founder - Storyblocks Blog | Top Social Media Tools | Scoop.it
In 2009, I started a stock media company with a single vision: to provide premium creative content that everyone could afford. This idea grew into VideoBlocks, followed by the launch of GraphicStock and AudioBlocks. Now, we’re adding millions of photos to our new image Marketplace and it’s time to bring our expanding libraries together as Storyblocks.
Jeff Domansky's insight:

Storyblocks is an improved one-stop-shop for high quality stock media at a fraction of the cost, with millions of images, videos, audio clips, and more! A favorite tool, modestly priced and highly recommended. 9.5/10

Visuals are the currency of sharing on social media. Text-only updates can only convey so much and get so far. Here are 3 stats that prove the worth of creating graphics.

First, 66% of all social media posts are or include images.

Second, forget native visual platforms, like Instagram and Pinterest, that allow photo sharing. In 2013, Facebook became the largest photo sharing website, with its users uploading 350 million photos every day.

Third, use of images was rated as the most important social media optimization tactic, in a 2014 survey by Adobe and Software Advice.

And, it’s not just limited to social media…Content with relevant visuals also gets 94% more views than content without. Even social media platforms now focus on images in their redesigns....

How to Remove Photo Backgrounds in Photoshop or PowerPoint

How to Remove Photo Backgrounds in Photoshop or PowerPoint | Top Social Media Tools | Scoop.it

You know what one of my biggest design pet peeves is? When I'm trying to design something, but there's an unwanted background on the image I'm using. Either I want to remove the photo background altogether, or I prefer a transparent background so the image assumes the look of any other background I put behind it.

Take the image on the left above, which is from our free, downloadable collection of holiday stock photos. That image would be so much more useful to my call-to-action, SlideShare presentation, blog post, or ebook if I could just remove that pesky background so it looked like the image on the right. Or maybe you've downloaded another one of our collections offree stock photos that could also use a transparent background.

Luckily, there is something you can do about it. Using either Photoshop or PowerPoint, you can easily remove the background of your photo or image in no time. And I'm going to show you exactly how to do it. First, grab an image to practice with....

Instantly preview web fonts on live sites | .net magazine

Instantly preview web fonts on live sites | .net magazine | Top Social Media Tools | Scoop.it

TypeWonder is a useful tool if you want to quickly see what a live site would look like in a different font. Just enter the URL of the target site, then select the font you want to use from the searchable list that pops up. There's a button that gives you the embed code when you find a font you like. It's especially useful if you want to preview lots of fonts in quick succession, as you can switch from one to the next with just a couple of clicks.

This simple functionality alone is great, but you may feel limited by the fact that only one font can be used at any one time - there's no way to try out font pairs by applying different typefaces to different areas....

How to Record Voice Narration for Your PowerPoint 2016 Presentation - dummies

How to Record Voice Narration for Your PowerPoint 2016 Presentation - dummies | Top Social Media Tools | Scoop.it

AA voice narration in a PowerPoint 2016 presentation is sophisticated indeed. A self-playing, kiosk-style presentation can be accompanied by a human voice such that the narrator gives the presentation without actually being there.

To narrate a presentation, a working microphone must be attached or built in to your computer. You record the narration for slides one slide at a time or all at one time, and the recording is stored in the PowerPoint file, not in a separate audio file.

The best way to record voice narrations is to do it on a slide-by-slide basis. You can record across several slides, but getting your voice narration and slides to be in sync with one another can be a lot of trouble....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Here's a very useful tip for recording voice narrations that will help your PowerPoint presentations come alive.
