Best News Discovery Tools 2012 | Top Social Media Tools | Scoop.it

Robin Good: If you are curating a specific topic you may find yourself often wading through tons of useless content and wondering where you can find some good stuff.

One option is to start using some good news discovery tools which can greatly help you filter out some of the useless spammy content that fills in most unfiltered searches and feed streams.

Here is my mindmap on news discovery tools which can help you in finding your best crop of interesting stories on the specific topic you are interested in.

It contains over 30 news discovery tools and services all with a direct link.

Thanks again for skyping into the conference, doing the video, and creating the map! I learned a lot and so did the 300 ngos in the room. And, I've been slowly playing with the tools on this list and now really adore trap.it!

Xydo is still a discovery engine, but is now focused on discovering content for email marketers. The rest of the list seems to be more focused on general purpose news discovery.
From their new home page:

"Easily find white-hot content that’s relevant to your business and customers."

Quickly create beautiful, white-labeled emails optimized for web, email, and mobile.

Track every action: opens, clicks, shares, etc. — down to an individual subscriber."
