Special Issue on Web of Things - IEEE Intelligent Systems (Call for papers)

Extending the current Internet and providing connection, communication, and inter-networking between devices and physical objects, or "Things," is a growing trend that is often referred to as Internet of Things. With the ability of mobile devices and sensors to observe and monitor their environments, increasing the coordination between things in the real world and their counterparts on the Web, it goes beyond Internet of Things and introduces the new concept of Web of Things.

Preparing for a Web of Things

Keynote at J. Boye Philadelphia 13 by Bebo White:
In the not too distant future our perception of what constitutes the World Wide Web is going to change. Far more devices and objects will become ‘first-class citizens’ of the Web and communicate via Web protocols. It is critical for us to prepare for this ‘Web of Things’ and understand how to use Web standards to interconnect all varieties of embedded devices (sensors, mobile telephones, personal and home appliances, etc.) in order to make them easier to use, operate seamlessly with other components of the Web, and be available to existing Web applications.

The 3rd phase of the web

The 3rd phase of the web | Web 3.0 | Scoop.it

The web, so far has had two distinct phases – from a commercial and a human perspective. The first was the connection of the infrastructure and the second was the connection of people. But now, we are about to enter a third and most interesting phase – The web of things. The web of things can be defined as a world where the web becomes so omnipresent that it becomes…invisible. It will be a world where everything and everyone is augmented via the web.
