Tron: Legacy. Reflexion on our digital culture

Tron: Legacy. Reflexion on our digital culture | Web 3D | Scoop.it
I don’t understand why Tron: Legacy has come in for so much critical abuse. Just taken as an action film, it’s considerably more entertaining and skillful than your usual Michael Bay explosion fest. However, like the original Tron, the film also has some interesting ways of imagining digital culture and digital spaces, and more potently, some subtle commentary about some of the imaginative failures of the first generation of digital designers. Avatar Experimentation: Human Subjects Research in Virtual Worlds | Web 3D | Scoop.it
Researchers love virtual worlds. They are drawn to virtual worlds because of the opportunity to study real populations and real behavior in shared simulated environments. The growing number of virtual worlds and population growth within such worlds has led to a sizeable increase in the number of human subjects experiments taking place in such worlds.

the BE community | Web 3D | Scoop.it
Two days ago Katalabs, who is developing the software for the BE community, made a public release of the browser based virtual environment KataSpace. This is the environment we envision BE community to be running in very soon, so it’s very exciting for us to see people interacting in the space right now. Gives us a sense of the strong potential this virtual space will have for the BE community when we bring young cancer patients in to test it before long.
