So, it isn’t surprising that many of them are cautious or distrustful about the impact generative AI will have on their professional lives. However, like writers, architects, and other creative professionals, many find that it creates opportunities to work more efficiently and even enhance their creativity. Generative AI is transforming most industries, and the creative fields of art and design are certainly no exception. But by embracing it, artists, designers, illustrators, and animators could find themselves spending more of their time on the aspects of their work they are passionate about and less on the routine and mundane elements they'd rather skip over. Some of the most influential influencers on social media sites aren’t people, but computer-generated digital creations. And soon digital “people” will be commonplace in business. In the past, fabricated fake folks were built the old-fashioned way — using Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) AI technology (the process behind video deepfakes). Nowadays, phony friends are build using LLM-based genAI tools. One early digital influencer on Instagram, named Lil Miquela, has been 19 years old since 2016, is worth millions of dollars and was named one of the 25 most influential people on the Internet back in 2018, despite not being a person. At the time, it seemed like the end of the world. “I used to cry every night,” said Aaron, who lives in Alberta, Canada. (The Verge is using aliases for the interviewees in this article, all of whom are under 18, to protect their privacy.) Eventually, Aaron turned to his computer for comfort. Through it, he found someone that was available round the clock to respond to his messages, listen to his problems, and help him move past the loss of his friend group. That “someone” was an AI chatbot named Psychologist. The chatbot’s description says that it’s “Someone who helps with life difficulties.” Its profile picture is a woman in a blue shirt with a short, blonde bob, perched on the end of a couch with a clipboard clasped in her hands and leaning forward, as if listening intently. On April 10, a new release shook the world of music. No, it wasn’t a new Frank Ocean album or even another Drake diss track (more on those later). This drop wasn’t actually a new piece of music at all. It was Udio, an app that uses AI to generate music from users’ text prompts — think ChatGPT for instrumentals. Though not the first product of its kind, Udio is arguably the best of the bunch — so how exactly does it work, and what could it mean for the future of music? An event that is only known to have happened three times before in the history of life on Earth has just been documented again. A marine bacterium was subsumed into its algal host organism, co-evolving with it for long enough that it can now be considered an organelle, part of the alga’s cellular machinery. That means these algae are the first eukaryotes (organisms with their DNA in a membrane-bound nucleus) known to contain an organelle capable of fixing nitrogen. “It’s very rare that organelles arise from these types of things,” said Tyler Coale, first author of one of two recent papers on the discovery, in a statement. “Very rare” could actually be considered an understatement. The first time this happened – as far as we know – it gave rise to the very first complex life by birthing mitochondria. Since then, it’s happened twice more, including over a billion years ago, marking the dawn of plant life on Earth by giving us the chloroplast. The groundwork for the latest finding was laid almost 30 years ago, when a team led by UC Santa Cruz Professor Jonathan Zehr discovered a new cyanobacterium in the Pacific Ocean with the ability to fix nitrogen. That’s the process by which microbes pull free nitrogen from the environment and combine it with other elements to form new nitrogen compounds, like the fertilizers that are essential for life to thrive. Bartending, a craft that combines skill, creativity, and an understanding of flavors, is embracing AI, not as a replacement but as a complement. AI in bartending isn’t about removing the bartender; it’s about enhancing their capabilities and offering them new ways to delight their patrons. Consider, while there is a wide assortment of drink recipes, bartenders find more and more patrons are looking for unusual, or at least specialized, drinks based on their individual palettes. This ranges not just on the type of alcohol but the level of sweetness, bitterness, peatyness, etc. In essence, people want a strong level of individual taste presences for their drinks. Never mind that it can pass the bar exam, ace medical tests and read bedtime stories with emotion, artificial intelligence will never match the marvel of the human mind without first mastering the art of sarcasm. But that art, it seems, may be next on the list of the technology’s dizzying capabilities. Researchers in the Netherlands have built an AI-driven sarcasm detector that can spot when the lowest form of wit, and the highest form of intelligence, is being deployed. It's clear that AI can offer personalized learning and quick feedback, but there are important ethical and legal concerns to consider. Teachers need proper training and support to use AI effectively and must never rely solely on AI for assessing student performance. Human oversight is crucial to ensure accuracy and context. The fear of AI replacing teachers is unfounded because AI can't replicate the emotional intelligence and connections that teachers provide. Overall, while AI has great promise, educators must navigate its integration carefully to truly benefit students.

I’ve tested outAI writing toolsandAI productivity tools, but putting the host of AI image generators through their paces was hands-down the most fun I’ve had in testing tools in ages (and Ilovetesting tools). As with other AI tools, there’s no shortage of artificial intelligence image generators in the market. By now, we all know that AI image generators can come up with all sorts of fantastical, eclectic imagery. But since you’re reading the Buffer blog, I’m going to be presumptuous and assume you’re either in marketing, a small business owner, or a creator — and you’re probably looking for a tool that can do something you can actually use in your work. How do we know where we are, and why can some people find their way in the world, better than others? I knew my mom would always struggle to find her way around and when I was 11, we moved to San Diego. I took it upon myself to learn the freeway system, major roads, and key visible landmarks. I would help my mom drive around will be trusty Thomas Guide set of maps for San Diego County. Once she was going off alone and I drew her a simplified map with directions on how to get to Fashion Valley, but she also insisted that I make a second map that would show her how to get back (I did try to explain one map would suffice, but it was easier to make the second map). I’ve often wondered why my mom and I are so different in this regard; our psychology, our interests, the information we value, the skills we believe are useful and within our grasps are quite distinct. We represent the extremes in our family and the linked article above explores how geographers and psychologists think about the differences in navigational abilities. GPS technologies serve both as great tools and crutches that limit some to expand their spatial skill set.

When you board a United Airlines plane, the gate agents, flight attendants and others involved in making sure your plane leaves on time are in a chatroom coordinating a lot of the work that you, as a passenger, will hopefully never notice. Is there still space for carry-on bags? Did the caterer bring the missing orange juice? Is there a way to seat a family together? When a flight is delayed, a message with an explanation will arrive by text and in the United app. Most of the time, that message is generated by AI. Meanwhile, in offices around the world, dispatchers are looking at this real-time data to ensure that the crew can still legally fly the plane without running afoul of FAA regulations. And only a few weeks ago, United turned on its AI customer service chatbot. Read the full article at: techcrunch.com Via Leona Ungerer

Their was too much discussion about Artificial Intelligence around 1998 to 2001-2002. Now all of a sudden a atmosphere is being created that everything has been replaced from advance technological devices to Artificial Intellgence. But out their it is confirmed that their is no such reports and overall the computer scientists are working on robotics that were basically being develop to cater the need of humans. Basically the context in which Artificial Intelligence is being talked recently is a hypothetical situation in which we are trying to deduct that wether artificial intelligence could meet the much sought about imagination that machines based on past inputs could in future can make ligical decision without adding further input. The advent of any new technology adds in the empty space that becomes strangely availaible on advent of new technology. It is like that all technological advances becomes reduntant after a while as if new value addition to the work in progress had been done till now and this new technology is also a product of necessity. Their on other hand no parameters set that can revive the progress till now and to find out wear and tear or loop holes that need repair in the resulted target that have been achieved till now. Their has been unnecessary credit that has been given to Artificial Intelligence that has been taken from the other technically advance areas like 3D Imaging and Animation. Cloud usage is nothing but an example of this. Although it confirms one thing that Artificial Intelligence now a days is being discussed on different platforms other than original discussion on which Artificial Intelligence is being made availaible till now. Artificial intelligence and machine learning have played an important role in the iPhone for years, powering features like Portrait Mode for the camera and the ability to copy and paste text from photos. But at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference, we're expecting to learn about how Apple could take that to the next level by potentially bringing generative AI to the iPhone. Generative AI, or AI models trained on large volumes of data that create content in response to prompts, has exploded in popularity following the success of ChatGPT. Tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, Samsung and Amazon, among many others, have introduced generative AI into their biggest products over the past year. Apple, however, has been quiet about its plans for generative AI, although CEO Tim Cook teased updates for 2024. Read the full article at: www.cnet.com Via Leona Ungerer |
