Pretty cool...not sure how accurate, but interesting to look at and see the ebb and flow of civilizations. Too bad the map starts at 2000 BC. Would've liked to see the Mayans and the Incas on there.

As part of the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS), Curtis Cooper recently discovered the 48th and largest prime number yet found.

And the winner is: 2^57,885,161 - 1.

Mersenne Primes were studied by French monk Mersenne 350 years ago and this is only the 48th one discovered so far. And it tooks lots of computer power.

 If you write down this number in a text file, the file will weight 22 MB :-)
