Recording can improve a bad lecture! 7 surprising facts about recorded lectures

Recording can improve a bad lecture! 7 surprising facts about recorded lectures | Technology Enhanced Learning Research & Applications | Scoop.it

You don’t have to know much about the psychology of learning to realise that a series of once-only, delivered lectures is pedagogic nonsense. We learn next to nothing from once-only experiences like unrecorded lectures. Indeed, everything we know about learning shows that repeated access to content is necessary for learning.

Technology for Learners and Teachers

Technology for Learners and Teachers | Technology Enhanced Learning Research & Applications | Scoop.it

This is a nice little blog site devoted to the production of short videos that help teachers and learners use technology effectively in the teaching-learning situation. Started in 2010 by Emily McWorthy and Alan Paterka, in 2012 Emily and Alan [As they seem to prefer being known - I wish people who publish on the web would all make it easy to find their full names - sometimes it is so difficult.]. by 2012 they seem to have hit on a format of a monthly video of 3 minutes or less.

T4LT takes a single topic, explains it, and describes how it can be used in a learning situation. Alan and Emily are earnest people who seem very eager to share information they believe will be helpful. Viewers will not find a lot of razzle-dazzle here,  or efforts to be rock-star ed tech gurus, just a couple of nice folks who want to let you know what they think is good.

Recent videos have focused on ePortfolios, Link Shorteners, To-do Apps, Pinterest, and QR Codes. Interviews with colleagues from Kirkwood Community College are also sprinkled among the selections. Good job Emily and Alan, keep up the solid work. -JL
